Today i am reviewing the hostican hosting for their email spam filtering and spam protection system. Visited my hostican cpanel control panel and checked on their spam filter feature that they provide.

Seem like there is only spam assassin available, and i can’t find any boxtrapper. Boxtrapper had been my favourite for spam protection this long, and their white list & blacklist feature is powerful in filtering off spam mail.

How many emails are you planning to send each day? Or you having certain occation where you need to send out email promotion or updates to existing customer database. And these email sending volume can be few hundreds to few thousand of it. Definately, you need to find out how many email sending limits are allowed by the hosting provider.

Thats the hostican hosting email sending limits. Quit a lots. The limit is implimented so that there is no abuse to the server for email spamming, or oversending by certain user, and causes other user waiting long in queue. Any action of sending unsolicited emails will get you into trouble, not only hostican, but all hosting.

Basically if you having thousand of emails to send, you could use the php script to fetch 100 emails from your customer email database, and send them every hours. By this, use the crons job to scedule the php to run each hour. And so, 100 emails are sending out per hour. If you need to send out 3000-4000 emails, it will take less than 2 days time to complete. Simple as that. And you won’t need an expensive dedicated server to do the job.

If you look forward for sending out ten of thousand emails per day, or thousand of email per hour, definately there is no shared hosting in this world will able to handle that capacity. You will have to look for dedicated server that allow you to handle that capacity. Or some cases, a VPS server will do the tricks.

Hostican hosting offering unlimited email account. I am using their hostican base-host now, and its come with unlimited email as well. Nice and generous feature from host i can. You can create as many email account you like, and assign individual password to it. And each person can access their email independently. Either their using email client like outlook to check on the email, or using webmail to browse the mail box. Simple as that.

Today i setup a new email account for the domain i hosted with hostican.com, and also i checked on the hostican webmail services as well. I most prefer horde webmail. Better interface and good control panel. As a standard, hostican webmail come with horde webmail and also squirrelmail. There is no cube mail… and most the hosting today not offering cube anymore, not sure why. Maybe who will need so many email clients
